There are a few things researchers should know about the MUW archive:

1.The numbering system is confusing. There are three of them that reflect the difficult history of the archive collections and can make things confusing for researchers.

a. The oldest numbering system looks like this 1-1130. Some collections have this number    and and the name on the file folder.

b. The second is used in the finding aids. This was given to the collection while it was housed in the Orr Building.

2. Trust the finding aids. The finding aids (with few exceptions) are very accurate and reflect what is contained in the collections.

3. Nothing is what it seems when it comes to the collections. An example of this is the Association of Citizens Councils' letter in C109 in a file labeled "A". Because of this please take notes on what is found. It might be the missing link someone else is looking for.
